The Schererville Parks Foundation is promoting the development of a new Dog Park at West 91st Avenue and Mathews Street in Schererville. Goals for development of this new park include a building with entry plaza offering memorial and sponsorship opportunities.
The nature reserve is a protected area of importance for wildlife, flora, fauna and features of geological which is reserved and managed for conservation and to provide special opportunities for study or research.
The project has involved the restoration and enhancement of four areas on the west side of Scherwood Park. The 9 acre park site was acquired in 2004 and has been under development. Historic 1847 Hilbrich log cabin.
